# Upgrade or downgrade your server

We understand your server's playerbase can fluctuate a lot, and so we allow you to easily scale your Minecraft server by upgrading or downgrading at any time.

| Upgrading/downgrading **won't have any impact on your current progress/saved data** and will be applied the next time you restart your server, following purchase.

When **upgrading** your server, we only charge an amount proportional to the upgrade, and the remaining time in your billing cycle — this means if you purchase an upgrade from 4GB to 8GB half way through your billing cycle, you'll only be charged half of the difference in price between our 4GB and 8GB plan (so $5.50 total for the upgrade).

If **downgrading** your plan, you'll receive account credit for the difference in price between the two plans. Account credit can be viewed [here](https://billing.lilypad.gg/clientarea.php?action=addfunds), and it'll automatically be applied to any future renewal invoices.

1. Head to your Servers page on the billing panel, or click [here](https://billing.lilypad.gg/clientarea.php?action=services).

2. Select the server which you wish to upgrade and double-check you've selected the right one. Now press **Upgrade/Downgrade** in the left sidebar.

3. You should now be able to select a new plan for your server. Finally, proceed with the checkout process for your new plan, and your server will be automatically adjusted once payment has been received.
