Purchasing a server from Lilypad was the right choice! This article should cover the basics of setting up your Minecraft server, so that you and your friends can start playing together straight away.

You now have access to our industry-leading control panel, available at panel.lilypad.gg – if you click on that link, and then the Login with Billing button, you should see your server available to manage:

1. Software/modpack installation

Lilypad supports a wide variety of server versions and modpacks, so you have full control over what you run on your server. If you have a pre-made modpack you wish to install from CurseForge, Modrinth, or a variety of other platforms we support, you can do so in one click via the Modpacks tab in the panel. If you want to create a custom modpack, we recommend doing this with the CurseForge app.

Upload mods/plugins to your Minecraft server

Accepted Answer

It's simple to upload mods or plugins to your Minecraft server – we've outlined the easiest way to do so below. Keep in mind you'll only be able to run mods on modded server software like Forge and Fabric, and plugins on plugin-based software like Paper.

||| If you're running a non-modded server, we now have a Plugin Installer which you can use to add plugins to your server at the touch of a button. Just make sure your server's set to a supported version (likely Paper or Pufferfish/Purpur) and click on the Plugins tab in the sidebar.

Head to our game panel at panel.lilypad.gg and select your server.
Select the Files button in the sidebar to navigate to the File Manager, and then click on the mods folder to upload a mod, or the plugins folder to upload a plugin.

Drag and drop the files you wish to upload into your browser window. They should automatically upload and you can monitor the progress from the panel.

Set up automatic restarts for your Minecraft server

Accepted Answer

If you run an intensively modded server, it can be useful to schedule regular restarts for your server. This can improve stability by clearing out the RAM, along with offering a number of other benefits.

Head to our game panel at panel.lilypad.gg and select your server.
Select the Settings button in the sidebar and set your server's time zone to whichever is easiest for you to understand.
Go to the Schedules tab, then press the Create Schedule button.
Set the name of the schedule to something like "Daily restart" then select the Every day at 06:00 button. This will pre-fill the values below with the ones required to restart your server at 6AM each day, in the time zone set via the Settings tab. You can change the number in the Hour field to a different time if you wish, like 0 if you wish to restart every day at midnight.

| You can now set a custom time zone for your server which will change the times displayed in the Console and when Schedules are run — just go to the Settings tab and click the dropdown at the bottom to select one.

Press Create at the bottom, then select the schedule you just created followed by the Create Task button.
Click on the Action dropdown and select Send power action, followed by Restart the server under the Payload dropd

Upgrade your server with Lilypad

We understand your server's playerbase can fluctuate a lot, and so we allow you to easily scale your Minecraft server by upgrading or downgrading at any time. This won't have any impact on your current progress/saved data and will be applied the next time you restart your server, following purchase.

Head to your Servers page on the billing panel, or click here.
Select the server which you wish to upgrade and double check you've selected the right one. Now press Upgrade/Downgrade in the left sidebar.

You should now be able to select a new plan for your server. Finally, proceed with the checkout process for your new plan, and your server will be automatically adjusted once payment has been received. Feel free to get in touch if you have any questions, and thanks for your purchase!

Access your server’s files with SFTP

Accepted Answer

Although we offer a powerful web-based file manager and editor, available via the Files tab of your panel, some customers may prefer to access their server via SFTP. This works in the same way to FTP access on other providers, and will require software like the below to work:

Instead, consider using:

WinSCP (feature-packed but only for Windows)
FileZilla (the classic, still works great)

Your game panel password may differ from your billing password that you set when creating your server with Lilypad. If in doubt, log out of the panel via the button in the bottom-left, then follow the Forgot password? process which will ensure you have a password set that can be used for SFTP.

Create a new server/connection in your SFTP client of choice, and enter the details:

Ensure the "Protocol" is set to SFTP, not FTP or FTPS which are different protocols
The "Server" or "Host" will be the "Address" f
