Link your Minecraft chat to a Discord server
So you want to have your Minecraft chat show up in your Discord server (and vise-versa), huh? Well lucky for you, Lilypad is here to help!
Creating the Discord bot
All plugins/mods we'll discuss later will require creating and setting up a Discord bot for the integration:
- Go to the Discord Developer Portal and login to Discord
- Click New Application in the top right, type in a name, check the box, and Create (optional: choose an icon for the bot under App Icon)
- On the Installation page: Disable User Install, ensure Guild Install is enabled, and change Install Link to None
- On the Bot page: Under Token, click Reset Token and store the newly generated token somewhere safe (Don't just copy it! You'll be copying something else later)
- Under Authorization Flow, disable Public Bot
- Under Privileged Gateway Intents, enable ALL privileged intents (Presence Intent, Server Members Intent, Message Content Intent)

- On the OAuth2 page: In the OAuth2 URL Generator select bot as the Scope and then Administrator as the Bot Permission (or whatever permissions you want to give your bot)

- Ensure Integration Type is Guild Install and then copy the generated link at the bottom

- Paste this link in your browser and follow the instructions to add the bot to your Discord server
You've now successfully added a custom bot to your Discord server. The next step is enabling Developer Mode on Discord:
Enabling Discord Developer Mode
- Open your User Settings on Discord
- Open the Developer page (very bottom, right above Log Out) and enable Developer Mode
- Go to your server, right-click the channel you want your Minecraft chat to go to, and click Copy Channel ID at the bottom of the context menu
- Store this copied ID somewhere safe as you'll need it later
You're now ready for the final step, setting up the plugin/mod:
Setting up the plugin/mod
There are a few different ways to do this depending on your server software:
Fabric / NeoForge / Forge
- Install Discord Integration from Modrinth (make sure to download the correct modloader + Minecraft version)
- Restart your Minecraft server and open config/Discord-Integration.toml
- Find the
botTokensetting (under[general]) and set it to the token you stored when creating your bot - Find the
botChannelsetting and set it to the channel ID you stored earlier - Save the file and restart your Minecraft server
You should now see messages showing up in your Discord channel. Don't see any messages appearing? Open a ticket in our Discord.
Plugin-based (Paper, Purpur, etc.)
- Install DiscordSRV from the Plugins page of your Lilypad server panel
- Restart your Minecraft server and open plugins/DiscordSRV/config.yml
- Find the
BotTokensetting and set it to the token you stored when creating your bot, it should look something like this:BotToken: "MjE5NTE5OTk0MDUxMDM1MTQ3.CqTCYw.SFAbKtfK3ydTy1jx2-fTHUJqsPo" - Find the
Channelssetting and replace000000000000000000with the channel ID you stored earlier, it should look something like this:Channels: {"global": "219559668236681216"} - Save the file and restart your Minecraft server
You should now see messages showing up in your Discord channel. Don't see any messages appearing? Open a ticket in our Discord.
