Install a modpack on your Minecraft server

Lilypad's industry-leading control panel makes it incredibly easy to install pre-made and custom modpacks on your Minecraft server. We've outlined the easiest ways to do so below:

I want to install a pre-made modpack

  1. Head to our game panel at panel.lilypad.gg and select your server.

  1. Click on the Modpacks tab in the sidebar. Our panel hooks into CurseForge to list all modpacks from their platform, or you can use the search bar to find a specific pack. You can also select the Platform dropdown to change modpack platform.

Try Feed The Beast for a variety of FTB modpacks like FTB StoneBlock or FTB OceanBlock, Technic for classics like Tekkit 2, or Voids Wrath for Crazy Craft.

You can also paste a direct link to a modpack in the search bar, and it should show up as the only result.

  1. Press the install icon next to the modpack you wish to install, before selecting the Delete all files option to freshly install the modpack, and then Install to begin.

  1. Your server should be ready to start via the Console page. For large modpacks, this may take a few minutes, but once your server is online all players should be able to join straight away.

Occasionally, some modpacks won't load straight away. This is often because it isn't packaged correctly for a server environment, and our panel was unable to install it automatically. The console should be able to provide some info on why your server is crashing (you'll sometimes have to scroll up a bit), but don't hesitate to contact us and we'll be more than happy to take a look.

I want to install a custom modpack

Our panel now provides the ability to import modpacks exported from the CurseForge and Modrinth desktop apps. This will automatically download the necessary server software and mods, while removing any client-side-only mods that shouldn't be installed on the server.

  1. Head to our game panel at panel.lilypad.gg and select your server.

  1. Click on the Modpacks tab in the sidebar, then the Install button in the top-right.

  1. Prepare your modpack in the CurseForge app, then find the Share Profile button. You may need to create a CurseForge account in order to generate a profile code, but this will allow you to easily sync it with your Lilypad server, and share it with friends. Once it's generated, copy it to your clipboard, and paste it into the CurseForge profile code field in our panel.

Alternatively, if you are you are using the Modrinth app, simply export the modpack instead. This will place a .mrpack file in the chosen location, which can be drag + drop'd into the panel for upload.

  1. Select the Delete all files option to freshly install the modpack, and then Install to begin.

Updating an existing modpack

You can update a modpack that's currently installed on the server by following the same instructions to install it, but don't select the Delete all files option. Make sure this stays disabled if you want to keep your world progress and player data!

We highly recommend creating a backup of your server before updating it, as modpack upgrades can occasionally cause world corruption. You can do this easily via the Backups tab in the panel.
